This is the web showcase of Peter Baustaedter, an environment designer and vfx art director for Film, TV and games.
Peter offers more than 20 years of computer graphics experience. From pixel graphics during the dawn of computer games in the 80s, classic post production in the early 90s, to creating sophisticated environments and concept art for high profile motion pictures like Apollo 13, Titanic, Lord of the Rings, The Day After Tomorrow, King Kong and Avatar.
Recently, he served as Visual Effects Art Director on the Starz original series “Spartacus: Vengeance” and “Spartacus: War of the Damned”. During two seasons he helped creating the look of over 8000 shots, ran the vfx art department with 8 artists, delivered concept art and oversaw the creation of numerous, complex digital environments.
Peter just returned from Malaysia, working once again as VFX Art Director on fast turnaround long-form TV: The Weinstein Company’s production of the Netflix original series “Marco Polo”.
Peter received the VES Award for “Outstanding Matte Paintings in a Feature Motion Picture” for James Cameron’s “Avatar”. He also was a part of a number of Academy and Emmy awarded productions.
He currently works as a freelance artist and art director for clients in New Zealand and abroad on TV, movie and computer game projects.
